I am incredibly proud to be supporting a community-focused charity, Tynedale Hospice at Home, source for a new position: their Head of Finance. 

Tynedale Hospice at Home provides a vital service around West Northumberland, in three major areas. Firstly, nursing - qualified nurses provide care 'at home' for people with life-limiting illnesses. Secondly, transport - volunteers provide transport to and from crucial hospital visits. Thirdly, pre and post bereavement support for children and adults - at an indescribably hard time, the Hospice provides support and resources to help people throughout the process. This is an opportunity for a finance professional to really make a difference in their work.

This is an exciting time to join the Hospice, with growth expected in the following areas

• Number of referrals and people using the aforementioned services
• Number of retail stores
• Projected income over the coming years, through donations, grants and other programmes.

The Role

• This is a new role developed to take the Hospice into the next stage of its strategy and development plan. The Head of Finance will be able to work to a hybrid working pattern and some examples of the key duties are listed below.
• Providing strategic financial advice alongside the CEO to ensure sustainability of the Hospice
• Presenting financial reports, including management accounts, forecasting and statutory accounts
• Working with grants and external funding and ensuring correct procedures are followed (e.g. with Charity Commission)
• Ensuring that Health and Safety legislation is followed and the central administration team are effective
• Managing a team of three.

The Person

The successful Head of Finance candidate will be allowed to make the role their own, and work to a hybrid working pattern. They will be:

• A qualified or part-qualified accountant. Qualified by experience candidates can be considered if they have the relevant experience and knowledge.
• Willing to 'muck in'. Successful finance professionals who work in charities have a good attitude to supporting the organisation as a whole. 
• Experienced in producing and presenting management accounts.
• Able to manage payroll
• A strategic thinker in terms of analysing costs and suggesting methods of working.
• Scanning the charity sector consistently and be aware of the implications of these developments.
• Able to work closely with internal and external stakeholders
