The Role

The successful Buyer will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing designated suppliers’ day to day issues including price negotiation, continuity of supply, quality conformance, problem resolution and cyclic business reviews.
  • Building and maintaining close relationships with Procurement team, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead commercial discussions with suppliers in line with agreed Commodity Strategies
  • Identify potential new suppliers within categories of responsibility that will support Quality, Cost or New Product Development. 
  • Introduction of new suppliers, incorporating price negotiation, verification audits, specification development, quality assurance, capacity planning, logistics, planning, qualification and approval, SLA’s, contract negotiation and implementation. 
  • Support the new product development & introduction process with early procurement involvement & on-going support for projects.
  • Maintain SAP master data, including creation and maintenance of SAP contracts. 
  • Conduct analysis of market trends 

The Individual

As an experienced Buyer you will have/be:    

  • Strong communicator who can effectively engage with and build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally 
  • Collaborative, flexible team player with a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Basic chemical knowledge would be beneficial (materials background ideally, paint background would be great) but not essential
  • Someone who can work independently, confident running RFQs and leading commercial discussions with suppliers
  • Strong character who can hold their own      ​​​​​
  • Creative thinker
