The What;


We are seeking a passionate and innovative individual to be responsible for determining a strategy and long-term transformational changes to help make North East Ambulance Services NEAS a great place to work and grow.  This will be through a holistic, agile and long-term range of activities that will improve our ways of working and culture to be one which is healthy, inclusive and the experience of our colleagues is positive.

Our people are our main focus and through bringing together a number of small teams within People and Development, you will be responsible for determining a way forward to achieve the organisational aim. Through leadership of the team you will be accountable for driving and influencing our approaches to equality, diversity and inclusion, organisational health and wellbeing, staff engagement and recognition, and thus leading and implementing a relevant programme of work to develop the organisational culture.

You will be required to undertake a wide variety of strategic organisational design activities and some facilitation activity, engaging with our wide variety of staff groups from clinical teams, support services, within our call centres, with patients and stakeholders, and senior teams/Board.

Based at one of our key locations and covering the North East, we offer agile working (2 days in the office per week).

About You;


Passionate and innovative, with experience of creating, leading and delivering successful programmes across a broad spectrum, including Culture Improvement, Diversity and Inclusion, Employee engagement and Wellbeing programmes, you’ll be eager for this new challenge.  With the ability to strategically interpret, analyse and evaluate programmes through a range of outputs/outcomes, you will utilise these insights to aid with the formulation of transformational change initiatives and programs.  

With exceptional communication skills, you will be adept to influencing at all levels and building strong working relationships, demonstrating partnership working skills.  People and wellbeing are important to you, and you have a coaching and values led leadership style, encouraging engagement and empowerment amongst staff and stakeholders.

About North East Ambulance Service;


Employing c.3,500 colleagues across the North East, the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (NEAS) operates across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Darlington and Teesside. We provide an unscheduled care service to respond to emergency calls, and a Scheduled Care service which provides pre-planned non-emergency transport for patients in the region.

Since 2013 we have delivered the NHS 111 service for the region to provide urgent medical help and advice, and we have been able to demonstrate how this service can run alongside the 999 service to provide a seamless access point for patients.
